FAQ

Questions? We've got answers.

Everything you might want to know about in-home concierge physical therapy with MotionWorks.

Getting started
What areas do you serve?

We bring in-home physical therapy to Loudoun County and Western Fairfax County, including Ashburn, South Riding, Aldie, Leesburg, Hamilton, Purcellville, Sterling, Reston, Great Falls, Vienna, Centreville, Chantilly, and Herndon.

Don't see your town? Reach out anyway. We can often cover nearby areas.

Do I need a physician's referral?

In Virginia you have direct access, so you can start without a referral. If your care is expected to run longer than 60 days, or involves complex, post-surgical, or multi-joint rehab, a physician's script (referral) can help by:

  • Documenting the medical necessity of extended therapy
  • Keeping your full care team aligned on goals and precautions
  • Giving you peace of mind that longer care is medically supported

We're glad to coordinate with your physician to get any needed script in place.

What happens during the first visit?

Your first visit is a full evaluation. It starts with a conversation about your history and goals, followed by a head-to-toe movement assessment, hands-on treatment, and a plan of care built around you. You'll leave that first session already making progress. See our How It Works page for the full process.

Who will I be working with?

You'll work one-on-one with Colin Geldart, DPT, OCS, a Doctor of Physical Therapy and board-certified Orthopedic Certified Specialist. Every session is hands-on with your therapist, never handed off to a tech or aide. Meet Colin.

Your care
What conditions do you treat?

We focus on orthopedic and sports rehabilitation, including post-surgical recovery, joint and spine injuries, sprains and strains, chronic and overuse pain, balance and mobility issues, and return-to-sport training. If you're not sure whether we can help with your situation, just ask.

How often will I need physical therapy?

It depends on your goals, your condition, and how you progress. After your in-home evaluation, your therapist lays out a clear timeline with a recommended session frequency. Twice a week is a common starting point for post-op or intensive rehab, though some clients need more early on and others taper down as strength and mobility return. Your plan includes:

  • Clear goals and measurable milestones
  • A recommended session frequency, adjusted as you progress
  • A home exercise program built for your space
  • Ongoing reassessment to keep results on track
Do I need any equipment or special space at home?

No. We arrive fully equipped for a complete session. A small clear area, about the size of a yoga mat, is all the space we need.

Do you offer training or performance work, not just rehab?

Yes. Colin is also a certified personal trainer, so your care can carry past rehab into strength, conditioning, and performance. Many clients move from recovery straight into building durable, lasting fitness, without ever changing providers.

Can you coordinate with my surgeon or doctor?

Absolutely. For post-surgical care, we follow your surgeon's protocol and can coordinate with your physician on goals, precautions, and any referral or script that's needed.

Payment & insurance
Do you accept insurance?

As a concierge practice, we don't bill in-network insurance. That's what lets us offer longer sessions, flexible scheduling, and care shaped entirely around your goals, without the visit caps and restrictions insurance plans impose.

If you'd like to file with your insurer, we provide a superbill (an itemized statement) you can submit for out-of-network reimbursement or apply toward your deductible. You get the documentation you need and the freedom of the concierge model.

How do I pay, and how much does it cost?

We're cash-based with simple, up-front pricing: $200 for the initial evaluation, $150 per follow-up session, and $175 for wellness checks. Most clients pay with FSA or HSA funds, and we provide a superbill for out-of-network reimbursement. See our Pricing page for the full breakdown.
